Frequently Asked Questions

The Answers You’re Looking For

Choosing the right care and support for a young person is an important decision. We want it to be as straightforward as possible. Below are some of the questions we are most commonly asked about 3S, our homes, our approach and the referral process.

About 3S Adolescent Care

What type of care does 3S provide?
We provide specialist residential care for adolescents who may need a safe, structured and supportive environment alongside individualised, therapeutically informed care.

What makes 3S Adolescent Care different?
We look beyond immediate needs to understand the whole young person. Our approach combines safe homes, consistent relationships, education, life skills and individualised support, with a clear focus on helping young people progress towards greater independence.

How do you support each young person as an individual?
We take time to understand their experiences, strengths, needs and aspirations, working with their professional network to develop support that reflects who they are and what they need to move forward.

Placements & Referrals

How do I make a referral?
Local authorities and professionals can submit a referral through our Make a Referral page. Our placements team will review the information and discuss whether 3S could provide the right environment.

How do you decide which home is right?

We consider the young person's individual needs alongside the environment, location, staffing, other young people living in the home, education and longer-term goals. The focus is always on achieving an appropriate and sustainable match.

How quickly can you respond to a referral?
We aim to respond promptly to enquiries and referrals. Our team will discuss availability, suitability and next steps with you as quickly as possible.

Education & Everyday Life

How do you support education?
We work with schools, colleges, tutors and other education providers to help young people engage with learning. This might involve returning to education, accessing specialist provision or developing practical and vocational skills.

Do young people take part in activities outside the home?
Yes. We encourage young people to develop interests, build relationships and take part in positive activities within their local communities.

How do you prepare young people for independence?
Everyday experiences such as cooking, budgeting, communication, responsibility and decision-making help young people develop practical life skills and confidence for adulthood.

Families, Carers & Professionals

How will I be kept informed about a young person's progress?
We believe effective communication is essential. We work collaboratively with families, carers, social workers, commissioners, education providers and other professionals, sharing appropriate information and reviewing progress together.

Can I visit a 3S home before making a decision?
Where appropriate, we can arrange visits and discussions so that professionals and young people can better understand the home and the support available.

What if I have a concern or complaint?
We encourage people to speak up. Concerns are taken seriously, handled respectfully and investigated appropriately. Visit our Complaints & Feedback page to find out more.
